Event description

Come support the Drive Thru and Queer artists and Charities in the bay.

A day in the bay celebrating our gays...

The Queer Ball  - Mardi Gras Weekend in Byron Bay

“The queer ball invites the bay to come together to expand their ideas on sexuality, to hear alternative perspectives of growing up in a heteronormative society, to dance with the trees for a cause and to provide safe spaces for the queers and those who love queers to celebrate our community. Expand your minds, bodies and spirits through conversation, dance, music, connection, expression and art and much much more." - Queer Ball Organisers

A Portion of our ticket sales will be going to Shedding Community, to help raise money so that they can build a shed and do more workshops in the community.

"Shedding Community Workshop offers an all-inclusive safe environment to learn skills in carpentry, building and everything in between. We teach these hands-on life-skills as an avenue towards self-empowerment, resilience and community connection. We use natural, reclaimed and recycled materials to work sustainably with the environment. Our motto, "shed your fears and build with curiosity" invites you to come and have fun, build stuff and discover your own capabilities! You'll surprise yourself." -Sophie

Another opportunity to support Queer mental health by supporting live music and artistry. We have over 40 queer artists involved in this day. Many of our communities memeber's find joy and purpose in performance and we want to support and encourage them to create and tell their stories, that the mainstream narrative have silenced for so long.

Another foundation we are supporting is the Queer Brotherhood, a space in the northern rivers where queer men can meet, sit in circle and connect; The Queer brotherhood allows for a queer safe space for identifying males.

This is an opportunity to stop division and come together to unite in the freedom of expression, connection, art of listening deeply to others lived experiences and heal and celebrate the history of our community.

A day to be in your heart, to explore identity and culture, to celebrate our artists and the arts which is so slowly falling away in our society.
