    Event description

    This Queer Breathwork session is a special LGBTIQA+ gathering. It's purpose is to create a safe and supported space for the LGBTIQA+ community to gather, process unconscious energies held in the body, access higher-states of consciousness and inner wisdom, and celebrate Queer energy.

    The early bird exchange for this workshop is $75 (plus booking fee, by 1 June 2023). The full exchange is $90 (plus booking fee). A limited number of sponsored tickets are available. No experience is necessary, all welcome. Limited spaces available.

    What is transpersonal breathwork?

    Transpersonal breathwork is an advanced breathing technique called conscious connected breathing. This technique bypasses the thinking mind and activates subconscious memories, thoughts, feelings and emotions held in the body. These experiences are explored, amplified and/or released. Breathwork is a down-up and experiential therapeutic practice that is guided by sensations and experiences within the body, rather than the mind.

    What is breathwork useful for?

    Breathwork therapy assists with a broad range of presenting issues. Such as:

    • feelings and experiences associated with anxiety and depression;
    • trauma (including early childhood and inter-generational);
    • behavioural issues (for example shyness, low-self esteem, procrastination, disassociation and addictive behaviours);
    • stress and pain relief;
    • body concerns (including eating disorders);
    • sex and sexuality (including matters relating to the LGBTQI community);
    • relational material (such as relationships at work, in the family, between friends and your partner(s));
    • spiritual questions and spiritual experiences;
    • further exploring material from plant medicine experiences;
    • interest in altered-state therapies;
    • life purpose and mindfulness questions; and
    • those with a curiosity about breathwork and wanting to improve general wellbeing.

    Health and wellbeing considerations (contraindicators):

    Breathwork uses a rhythmic/dynamic breathing pattern for an extended period of time, giving you access to an altered-state of consciousness. Whilst this breathing practice is safe, there are certain mental and physical conditions that may prevent you from participating in this workshop. These may include people with cardiovascular problems, pregnancy, some psychiatric conditions, psychosis, recent surgery or fractures, acute infectious illness or epilepsy, severe hypertension, glaucoma, or active spiritual emergency.

    About Joshua:

    I’m a Canberra-based advanced breathwork practitioner, specialising in both individual and group breathwork sessions. Commencing my private practice in 2018 (Transition Breath), I have since travelled the world seeking to develop and enhance my understanding of this breathwork technique. I am influenced by rebirthing breathwork, Holotropic breathwork, Vipassana meditation, bioenergetics, nature-based shamanic processes (Vision Quests) and plant-medicines.

    I am a proud member of our LGBTIQ+ community and have roots in rural Australia. I feel intimately connected to the wisdom and healing potential of our Earth. I use breathwork as an eco-relational practice, assisting people to come into right relationship with the natural world and all its beings.
