Event description

Queer Dance Freakout is an interactive performance spectacle! This company of queer, trans, and nonbinary choreographers and storytellers will perform a variety of devised, dance, and performance art pieces that will have audiences booty shaking, grooving, and connecting with the queer community. The audience adds singles and playlists to the queue by voting for the dances they want to see. Queer Dance Freakout is ever changing as each performance the company writes and choreographs new pieces so no Freakout is the same as before.

Unfortunately, this venue is not ADA accessible as it is up two flights of stairs with a landing. Seating is first come first served. If you are unable to stand for the length of the performance (60 minutes), please make note of this in your ticket order and we will happily reserve a seat for you. Also feel free to email moore@genderfucked.org with any access needs and we will do our best to accommodate.

Our tickets are sliding scale for accessibility. If you are unable to pay the base price, we offer subsidized ticket price for low-income individuals and members of the BIPOC or TGNC community. If the discounted rate is not within reach, please email dawn@genderfucked.org the level of assistance you need and we will happily accommodate (we can slide to zero for community members).

Masks will be required and provided for all audience members at the door! Performers test before the show and will be unmasked.

Queer Dance Freakout is recommended for ages 16 and up. This performance will include the following sensitive material:

  • Partial nudity down to undergarments and showing of nipple coverings and fake nipples
  • Displays of sensuality
  • Use of profane language (by dancers and in music)
  • Gay related slurs
  • Simulated violence, such as stabbing, grappling, punching, and hitting
  • Implied violence
  • Depictions of spirit possession
  • Naming of genitalia
  • Sexual paraphernalia
  • Themes of healing from trauma
  • One sequence of extensive burping
  • One sequence of smoke from Palo Santo
  • Sensory experiences: shouting, screams, loud music, flashing lights, high pitched whistle (live), darkness, dancers dancing within three feet of the front row, & audience participation only with explicit consent

The company encourages all audience members to take care of themselves however they may need to during the show–including exiting the space, saying no to participating in interactive numbers, getting up to stretch or use the restroom, etc. Please reach out to co-intimacy directors Kat Phillips (katphillips1998@gmail.com) and Bianca Thompson (biancalegardathompson@gmail.com) with any further questions regarding charged content in the show.
