A slow burn night of romance & friendship to celebrate and raise funds for transbutch playwright Em Tambree's debut play ALTAR. All funds will go towards capturing a filmed version of the show's international premiere at Edinburgh Fringe, and to supporting the LGBTIQA+ team as they film.

Playwright Em Tambree used to hide love notes in library books for their first love. In 2022, Em was commissioned by Midsumma Festival to write their debut play ALTAR about their experience falling in love with a woman for the first time in Regional Queensland. Our theme is inspired by the love notes that inspired the play.

THEME: Library of Love

Our hot librarian of the night will be the illustrious & verbose cabaret icon Florian Wild!!! You'll have a hard time keeping quiet! This award-winning gender-defying drag artist is known for their cheeky wit, soaring vocals, and campy hosting chops. But Florian's not only reading people to flattery & filth... A lesser-known fact? They're a sucker for romance! Florian will be taking care of us for the night. They'll make sure that no one gets left on the shelf with their matchmaking skills 💋

What will the night include?

7PM - 7:15PM Arrive to a complimentary cocktail & charcuterie (included in your ticket cost)

7:15PM - 7:30PM Housekeeping & Introductions

7:30PM - 9:00PM Speed dating: for lovers and friends

9:00PM - 11:00PM The chance to connect further (DJ + cocktails + comfy booths + ambient lighting)

How will the speed dating work?

You'll be given a library card alongside a classic romantic paperback. Each book will be labelled for a person in attendance.

You will have the opportunity to meet beautiful queer people with helpful prompt cards to assist. Don't worry if you're feeling shy! We'll have some trans & gender diverse angels in attendance that can help you feel cozy and confident. If you've really enjoyed someone's company? It's time to write them a little love note! These will be collected by your trans angels.

Your love notes will be delivered to you on Saturday 19 hidden in-between the pages of your paperback.

First release: Tickets are limited to 30 total to ensure there's no need to rush getting to know your matches. Quality time is an act of love!
