Lutruwita/ Tasmania is home to a strong, proud and diverse community of LGBTQIA+ people and our allies. This new work is intended to explore the stories of people from a a broad cross-section of our community; people of many different ages, sexualities, genders, cultural backgrounds and abilities. Pre-recorded interviews, spoken word, poetry and yarns from queer Lutruwita/ Tasmanians are layered onto a sonic bed of original jazz compositions from the pen of non-binary composer and conductor Stevie McEntee, performed live by some of the state's finest jazz musicians in the iconic surrounds of the Hobart Town Hall. Come explore and celebrate contemporary queer culture in Lutruwita/ Tasmania with us!

Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase from our fully licensed bar.

ACCESSIBILITY: This venue is fully wheelchair accessible and has accessible bathrooms. The performance on Friday the 10th of November will be AUSLAN interpreted.

SAFE SPACE: These performances are for the enjoyment of everyone, and will be safe space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Aggressive or abusive behaviour towards anyone based on gender, sexuality, age, ability, religious belief or cultural background will not be tolerated. Bathrooms will be gender neutral. This work is not intended to represent the totality of the queer experience in Lutruwita/ Tasmania, rather to provide a snapshot of where we are, where we have been and where we might be headed.

We acknowledge the Land on which we work, create and play: Nipaluna on the island of Lutruwita. This Land, Sea and Sky nourishes, inspires and supports us everyday. We acknowledge the Mouheneenour people as the traditional custodians of this Land and pay our respects to Palawa elders past and present, along with the Palawa participants in this work. Their ancestors have practiced the sharing of music, culture and stories on this land in an unbroken line stretching back over 60,000 years. This land was never ceded and we acknowledge the ongoing effects of colonisation and dispossession. Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.
