    Who's the light of your life? Your queen bee? The apple of your eye? Express yourself and say it all with a handmade light-up greetings card!

    Reconnect with your science brain learn to make a greetings card that's extra special and memorable with a light-up effect!

    This beginner class will introduce you to circuits and switches, which you can utilise to create your own unique light-up designs.

    You will be led step-by-step through all the processes, and depending how confident you feel you can create simple light designs or ones that require a bit more intricacy - set your own goals!

    This event will be half social chats with a bunch of like minded queer people and half fun, educational and interactive workshop.All workshops are taught by queers, for queers.

    What will we cover?

    Starting with a brief explanation of how circuits work using an energy stick, in this fun, hands on workshop you will learn how to make a gorgeous light up design using Chibitronics.

    This beginner class will cover:

    • How electricity flows through a circuit
    • How to create a circuit with a switch
    • How to integrate your circuit with a design
    • Making a basic card to understand the process
    • Troubleshooting
    • Making a fully designed and decorated card
    • Finishing touches
    • How to apply these techniques to other designs!

      Who will be teaching? 

      Jess Wilson (Dubblu) is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator and muralist based in Footscray. Her work focuses on immersive experiences, employing a variety of techniques from audio, animation and sensory.

      If she can convince her audience to climb into a pipe or crawl on the ground she considers it to be a success. She is the Creative Designer for Science Play Kids, as well as a workshop facilitator to make science and art accessible for all.
