Queer Wheel Practice Group
Description
Monthly Wheel of Consent® practice group for queers
This is an opportunity to gather as a community in ongoing practice around what we want, what we don't want, our willingness, our limits, and how to communicate about all of it. Feel free to bring the things you’re currently exploring or wanting more practice in as we decide as a group how we'd like to spend our time together.
Choosing is more important than doing and there are many ways to participate - the Wheel of Consent is based around touch practice however touch is never required. You will always be supported to do what's best for you and your body.
Where is it and what to bring
We have moved from the previous Brunswick East location and will now be held at Melbourne Shiatsu (43 Rose St, Fitzroy). This is a ground floor venue with on-street parking and can be accessed by the 96 tram.
While there are some cushions there please bring any cushions, bolsters, blankets, etc you’ll need to be comfy.
Who is it for
This space is specifically for LGBTIQA+ folks who have completed a two-day Wheel of Consent® workshop or Like A Pro training, as developed by Dr. Betty Martin. You're welcome if you've completed a training recently or many years ago - while this space is an opportunity to practice what you have already been taught, I offer guidance and teaching of the material as much as feels supportive to the group.
Pricing
There are three ticketing options depending on your financial position.
Supported ($15): for those who need a lower-cost option
Standard ($25): covers the cost of running the event
Pay it forward ($35): helps others attend at a reduced rate
Please choose what option feels appropriate to you, no questions asked.
Who am I
I have trained with Dr. Betty Martin and the School of Consent and use the Wheel extensively in my professional and personal practice. My role here is as a peer - to support you to experiment with this material, reflect on your experience, and further integrate what you have learnt in your Wheel training. This practice is lifelong and there are always new things to discover in this work! For more info about me you can read my bio at the bottom of this page.
