Queerbourhood at the Rattler

Event description

It’s been a time. The days of no gatherings rolled into weeks, into months and the end of the year approaches like a juggernaut.

How fortunate we were to gather without fear or worry at the start of the year?

Like a wonderful orgasm, we as queer people, love to come together. For now, this will be a new dance, we just have to learn the steps.

Our queerness is rooted deeply in fighting for our freedom just to be ourselves in a public place. Together we have marched and continue to fight for our equality, to dismantle the patriarchy, to be actively anti racist, to extinguish bigotry, to care for the marginalised in our already marginalised community.

Our club house, our place of deep radical care and united joy, The Bearded Tit has been closed for our own safety. We’ve been patient and compliant. Modalities we’ve often disrupted and side-stepped for our freedom to be who we are.

But there is a light that never goes out. Our unified queer spirit traverses time, place and pandemic. It’s an eternal feeling that comes from within and grows stronger when we are together.

Rebuilding our community is happening slowly and surely, with consideration for our safety and well-being.

In order to bring our logical family together we have organised a Queerbourhood reunion at our sacred big sister space, the Red Rattler on Saturday 28th of November. There will be secret shows and queerdo music. For now, the only dancing will be in your seat. Masks are encouraged and there will be prizes for the best in show after a walk off parade.
