Queering Urbanism #3 Cities & Public Spaces
Event description
🌈QUEERING URBANISM #3 - CITIES AND PUBLIC SPACES 🏢
How can we create truly inclusive cities that celebrate and support LGBTQIA+ communities?
Join Queers in Property at ClarkeHopkinsClarke in Naarm as we tackle this question head-on, exploring how public spaces and urban planning can better serve diverse identities and experiences.
Building on QIP's previous discussions on "Evolution of the Gaybourhood" and "Housing for LGBTQIA+ Lives," this final event in our trilogy examines how queer identity intersects with city-wide design and policy. Drawing from ARUP's "Queering Cities in Australia" research, we'll explore practical strategies and real examples for creating genuinely inclusive urban environments.

MODERATED BY:

Expect a bit of theory and data, a sprinkle of sass, and a celebration of spaces made by us, for us. Whether you work in the built environment, live in cities, or simply care about how spaces shape our lives, you'll leave with a renewed sense of what public space could be when we let queerness lead - organic, inclusive, playful, and unapologetically visible. Come for the conversation, stay for the community. Drinks & nibbles provided.
