Queers Draw This
Event description
Queers Draw This is a weekly class on Saturday afternoons for people identifying as LGBTQIA+.
Gain experience with a range of art media and drawing techniques in a supportive environment in this class facilitated by local artist, Margaret Mayhew.
You will use drawing exercises to explore looking, representation, sensory, and embodied encounters with the world around you while learning how to draw people, bodies, animals and our moods.
Classes will be held at East Coburg Neighbourhood House and will culminate in an exhibition as part of the Midsumma Festival held at NECCHi Newlands Neighbourhood House.
Please note: You will need to supply your own materials.
LGBTIQA+ community members, families and allies are welcome.
Weekly focus:
Feb 6 -27: drawing (materials: A4 cartridge paper, Sketchbook, 3 pencils, hard eraser, sharpener)
Mar 6 - 13: charcoal (materials: paper, soft charcoal, kneadable & hard rubbers)
Mar 20 - 27: dry pastel (materials: hard paper, box of pastels)
Apr 3 - 10: watercolour (materials: watercolour paper, watercolours or ink, brush)
Apr 17 - 24: mixed media (materials: paper, paint/ink)
May 1: Midusmma exhibition and workshop (materials provided)
