Event description
12 up-and-coming young songwriters battle it out for a chance to win amazing prizes!
Join us for the 2022 Act Belong Commit Fairbridge Festival Quest Youth Songwriting Competition final to be held on Sunday 8th May in the ornate Edith Spiegeltent on the ECU Mt Lawley campus where WAAPA students hone their craft.
Witness 12 young songwriters battle it out in the final for a chance to win a performance slot at Fairbridge Festival 2023, a day in the studio at Elemental Sound, a professional photoshoot with Tashi Hall, as well as plenty of other amazing opportunities!
There will also be special guest performances on the night from Quest patron Lachy John and Helen Shanahan.
The Quest is WA’s most favourite youth songwriting competition. It’s been running for over 10 years and has helped kickstart the music careers of many local musicians including Jack Davies, Siobhan Cotchin, Brooke Bugeja and Sofia Hourani, to name a few.
The final will be judged by three music industry professionals who have the difficult task of choosing two winners in two categories: Song Craft and Song Performance in two age groups: 12-15 years and 16-18 years.
This year's judges include:
- Rose Parker, singer/songwriter
- Vinnie Crea, WAAPA
- Em Burrows, WAM
This year’s prizes include:
- Opportunity to perform at Fairbridge Festival 2023
- A day in the studio at Elemental Sound
- Professional photoshoot with Tashi Hall
- Free WAM Song of the Year entries
- WAMCon 2022 ticket
- Post-final mentoring session from WAM
