Mastery Studio - An Ode to Japan
Event description
Mastery Studios - monthly workshop lunches with winemakers and chefs of the Barossa
Here in Barossa, we know mastery takes many forms. Our community of artisan food producers, generations of grape growers and well-heeled winemakers are constantly driven to improve and master their crafts. It’s this continual search for excellence and a love of the finer details that make Barossa a destination for wine and food aficionados.
We’re bringing the masters and their crafts to you, in a series of studio lunches at The Barossa Cellar. Local chefs are banding together with winemakers and sharing their love for all things flavour!
Limited to just 12 seats, you’ll be up close and personal in the kitchen with our local food and wine heroes, learning their methods and skills for creating delicious, share-worthy dishes with wines to match, and a sit-down lunch to follow.
An Ode to Japan…
The Japanese art of craftsmanship handed down through centuries of generations is not lost on local chefs Ryan Edwards (Artisans of Barossa) and Kyle Johns (Appellation), who both have spent years honing their skills for sashimi and hours of dedication and patience making shiokoji and soy sauces. You’ll taste through the nuances of regional Japanese cuisine and the subtleties of umami; sashimi and sushi with house made soy & fresh wasabi, Wagyu with miso butter and grilled pickled onions, hand rolls of soft-shell crab, miso and soy sauce making and more. All alongside the slinky, textural wines from Smallfry Wines and a cheeky splash of red rice sake.
