Quick ruck on a Saturday arvo - Hamilton Lake
Event description
Come for a quick ruck on a Saturday arvo!
A ruck is just like a walk, but whilst carrying weight in a backpack. Rucking is a great way to level-up a basic walk and turn it into a low-impact, muscle-building cardio extravaganza - VERY easily. You'll be a motherrucker in no time.
Who is it for?... this event is for you if you're curious to give rucking a try and would enjoy a group experience.
What do I wear? ... comfortable clothes you'd usually wear for a walk, including sturdy trainers or hiking boots because a stiffer sole usually feels better for rucking.
How far is the walk? ...one lap of the lake, approx 4km. You walk at your own pace.
What do I bring?... a backpack with comfortable shoulder straps that can handle an extra few kgs of weight in it (most standard backpacks can handle 5kg), your own weight if you have something suitable, a gold coin donation.
What do I get? ... at the meeting place, you will hear a brief intro to the event and be able to choose from a small selection of additional weights if you need to borrow one. Then we walk. You'll get to chat as we walk, meet new people and hopefully leave with the confidence to ruck whenever you want.
Why the gold coin? ...a chance to also mention New Zealand's firefighters and the Welfare Society that offers them support https://firefighters.org.nz/. This event is not charging a ticket price and you are welcome to attend for free, but every dollar donated will go to the Firefighter Welfare Society.
