Dr Meganne Christian makes her World Science Festival Brisbane debut in a presentation as part of the QUT Bold Ideas series.

As we step into the next phase of space exploration, join Meganne and our event moderator, ABC journalist, Rebecca Levingston as they discuss the future of the human impact in space as well as stories from Meganne’s extraordinary career.

About Dr Meganne Christian
Dr Meganne Christian is Reserve Astronaut / Exploration Commercialisation Lead at the UK Space Agency, and member of the European Space Agency Astronaut Reserve. Dr Christian holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a PhD in Industrial Chemistry from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. From 2014 to 2023, she was a materials scientist at the National Research Council of Italy, investigating innovative materials for alternative energy and space applications. She has also undertaken two missions, including a winter-over, to Concordia Station in Antarctica where she was a research scientist in charge of atmospheric physics and meteorology.

About Rebecca Levingston

Rebecca Levingston grew up in North Queensland and studied Hotel Management and Japanese on the Gold Coast. A year in Japan and the UK taught her that people are infinitely interesting creatures and the seed of journalism was planted. It was after a year of work in America that Rebecca returned to study journalism at QUT. She has now hosted almost every show on ABC Radio Brisbane including Mornings, Drive, Breakfast and Weekends. In 2024, Rebecca returned to host statewide Evenings.
