Event description

QUT's Real Health Panel Series unpacks the latest issues affecting the health and wellbeing of our communities.

The upcoming Real Health Panel Series event will focus on AI in Healthcare: Crossing the Last Mile to Care Delivery. As technology continues to transform health services, digital systems play an ever-increasing role in supporting health professionals in their day-to-day work. Despite advances in health-related AI, its current use in real-world care settings remains limited to a few niche areas.

Join us as our invited panellists discuss what is happening to overcome challenges in crossing the last mile to effective use of AI in real-world health care delivery settings, including implementation challenges and human factor considerations.

Panellists:

  • Dr Raelene Donovan, Acting Chief Clinical Information Officer, eHealth Queensland

  • Associate Professor Johan Verjans, Deputy Director, Medical Machine Learning, Australian Institute for Machine Learning, University of Adelaide, and Platform Leader AI, South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute

  • Professor Olivier Salvado, Professor in Artificial Intelligence, School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics, Faculty of Engineering, QUT

  • Dr Sundresan Naicker, Research Fellow – Implementation Science, Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation (AusHSI), QUT

Moderated by Professor Steven McPhail, Centre Director/Strength Lead – Health Economics and Program Lead – Digital Health, Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation (AusHSI), and Director, Centre for Healthcare Transformation, QUT.
