@EventName

A rare opportunity to explore an iconic Melbourne building and hear the hidden stories and extraordinary history of QVWC! Join us for a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre - from its beginnings as the former Queen Victoria Hospital to its current role as a vibrant centre for women's advocacy and gender equity. Discover the untold stories, historical milestones, and powerful legacy of the women who shaped the Centre’s past and continue to influence its future.

What to Expect:

A guided journey through the building’s hidden spaces, from bottom to top
Fascinating stories of feminism, transformation and resilience
A deeper connection to one of Melbourne’s most significant heritage sites

Meeting point

Meet us in the Ground Floor Foyer at Queen Victoria Women's Centre, 210 Lonsdale Street Melbourne.
Please aim to arrive 10 minutes prior to the tour start time. We recommend relaxing on the sofas near the front entrance.

Access & Inclusivity

QVWC is a public space, open to all genders and people outside of the gender spectrum
The tour does include going up and down stairs at the front of the building, however this can be adapted to be fully step-free if required. There is a lift to all floors
There are accessible bathrooms, a baby change and shower available on site
While we do not have a dedicated quiet-space, breast-feeding space or prayer room, we will always try to accommodate requests, based on availability.
The tour is predominantly spoken, with some visual aids (including books and printed photos)
Our bathrooms are all gender-neutral, with free period products available

After the tour

We recommend leaving a bit of time to explore the Centre yourself!

Our public points of interest include the Shilling Wall, the ‘Bricks & Spirit’ history space, Creative Resilience sculpture and selected archival photos.
Our famous QVWC Shop is open 11am - 6pm (Tuesday - Saturday). As the city’s premier feminist design and gift shop, showcasing women and gender diverse makers from across Victoria, it’s the great spot for a peruse or a last-minute gift!
The Birnbeal Exhibition Space on the Ground Floor features rotating exhibitions by women and gender-diverse artists.
We have a number of events and programs at the Centre, including by our Residential Organisations. See What's On at https://www.qvwc.org.au/events
