Join award winning author Felicity Castagna for a full day creative writing masterclass designed to help you understand the craft of storytelling and how investing in building your narrative skills will assist you in your creative practice.Â
Stories help us understand ourselves and the world we live in. They allow us to explore deeper meanings through the richness of imagination and the discipline of craft.
This masterclass is open to all creatives—whether you’re experienced in writing or an artist interested in combining a deeper narrative in your work. You'll explore key elements like voice, style, structure, and character development to enhance your work.
Felicity has published four novels, with her most recent novel, Girls in Boy’s cars being adapted into a major film. She has won the Prime Minister’s Award for Young Adult Literature, a CBCA Honour Book Award and the Victorian and Queensland Premier’s Literary Award for Young Adults. She has also written for adult audiences, is a regular speaker at writers festivals and has gained a national reputation for her insightful creative writing workshops.  Â

About Felicity Castagna – Award-winning writer and storytellerÂ
Sydney-based writer Felicity Castagna has published four novels for adults and young adults including her most recent book, Girls In Boys’ Cars (2022) which received a Victorian Premier's Literary Award and a Queensland Literary Award and is now being adapted for stage and screen.Â
Her previous novel, No More Boats was a finalist in the 2018 Miles Franklin Literary Awards. Her young adult novel The Incredible Here and Now received The 2014 Prime Minister’s Award for Young Adult Literature as well as the IBBY Award and CBCA Book of the Year Award.Â
She has worked with artists in many different fields to produce work for The Sydney Opera House, The Sydney Festival, The National Theatre of Parramatta and The Four Winds Festival.Â
Her creative non-fiction and critical responses to literature, art and home are published widely including The Sydney Review of Books, Electric Literature, LitHub, The Griffith Review and ABC radio and television.
Parking:
Car parking is provided near the entrance of the gardens, and surrounding the Arts & Ecology Centre. Visitors with mobility needs are provided with priority parking towards the top of the car park as the site is sloped.
