The Session
Architectural photographer and filmmaker Andy Macpherson will speak about the relationship between architecture and photography, and provide practical insight into how architects can get the most out of a shoot. 

A lot of this starts well before shoot day, including things like:

• Thinking ahead about which publications a project might suit 

• Ensuring homeowners are well prepared around what to expect from a shoot and are able to have their space decluttered, windows clean, landscaping tidied and the project feel calm and shoot ready

Andy will also discuss what makes a strong photography brief including: 

• Communicating the intent behind the project

• Identifying key spaces or details

• Understanding where the images will be used

• Allowing enough flexibility for light, weather and atmosphere to guide the process on the day.

 In his experience, the best shoots feel collaborative rather than overly controlled, with enough trust to let the architecture and environment speak naturally.

Andy Macpherson
Andy Macpherson is an architectural photographer and filmmaker based in Northern NSW working with architects across Australia. His work focuses on creating warm, natural imagery that captures not just the architecture itself, but the feeling of being in a space. He believes in taking the work seriously while making the process fun.  

Over the past decade he has photographed a broad range of projects for architects, and his work is published extensively both locally and internationally.
