    Event description

Join Rachel, Jhana, and Georgina at BooBooks for an evening of soulful original music.

Aoteorea-born singer songwriter, Rachel Greene, possesses a quiet power and presence. With emotional maturity beyond her years, she taps into themes of resilience, despair and hope, with impossibly sweet vocals, and gorgeous accompaniment on keys and baritone ukulele. As heard in her recently released EP 'Soul Tea', Rachel’s songwriting is unflinchingly brave and honest; a true warrior in every sense of the word.

Jhana is that rare combination of a musician who has a deep understanding of roots music and yet brings an entirely original perspective with her songwriting, mandolin playing, and fearless arrangement ideas. While her debut album Darkest Night shows her ability to live comfortably in the neo-traditional bluegrass world, her new EP Passing Shadow pushes those elements even further towards her own, completely compelling sound; rooted in her own experience, and reflective of the contemporary folk, rock sounds of Australia. Recently returned from recording her sophomore album in Nashville, Tennessee, 2023 is promising to be a fruitful year.

Georgina Kruger is a classical musician and multi-instrumentalist. She masterfully combines her passion for classical, opera, jazz, musical theatre, and folk into her performances and compositions for voice, piano, violin and recently, the Nyckelharpa; a Swedish folk instrument known for its angelic resonance and interesting history. Her recent album ‘…in time’ combines the ambient and classical genres, featuring ethereal vocal harmonies and her first ever composition for nyckelharpa and piano.
