We Need to Talk about Children and Social Media with Dr Rachel Hogg

Event description

Join Dr Rachel Hogg, a senior lecturer in psychology at the CSU as we unpack how social media is having a negative influence omn the lives of our young people.

If you are a parent of a teenager it is vital you have an understanding of how social media platforms work and the significant harm posed by even short durations of content.

Each week we will go live to demonstrate the way the algorithms work and the ways they are targetiing our teens.

In week one we will talk about the ways social media platforms work, week two: unpack how young men can be influenced with misogny; week three: the influence on body image and self esteem and the diet culture; and come together in week 4 to share ideas of how we can address this as a community.

This is an adults only event. We encourage parents, teachers and anyone who has a young person in their lives to attend.
