Rachel was born and raised in Salem, Oregon and began her painting journey while she was still working as a bedside nurse in 2015. Initially creating work that served as a way to process emotion, she now draws on her own abstracted impressions of nature and water. She works primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, occasionally incorporating oil and acrylic pastels. Her aim is to reimagine the natural world; leaning into non-representational shapes and layers.
Rachel received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing with a Minor in Art from Concordia University Portland in 2014. She has been active as a full time professional artist since 2020 and works out of her home studio in Salem.
Join SAA's April Artist-in-Residence, Rachel, in her home art studio. Please choose a date and we will send the address prior to the date.
She is a neighbor to SAA & lives near Bush Park.
