Have you ever experienced any incident of racism? Or, do you know if any of your friends, or relatives, or neighbours, have been impacted by racism incidents?

Are you wondering what racism means to the CALD community living in Canberra?

If you are interested to know more, and share your views or experience, then this symposium on Racism in Australia from CALD Perspectives is for you.

The Canberra Multicultural Community Forum Inc (CMCF), a peak umbrella body of 110+ multicultural community organisations of the ACT region, presents this interactive and engaging symposium on Sunday 26 May, from 10:30am (for an 11:00am start) to 3:30pm to discuss issues and impacts of Racism on ACT's CALD community, in a culturally safe environment.

What does this event include?

The symposium, hosted by CMCF, includes keynote addresses by experts and panel discussions with representatives from diverse professions and communities, including people with lived experiences. This is an interactive event where you can ask questions and share your experiences and views.

Syposium Key Speakers are:

* Prof Kim Rubenstein, Faculty of Canberra Law School/ Co-Director, 50/50 by 2030 Foundation, University of Canberra
* Dr. Karo Moret-Miranda, ARISE (Anti-Racism, Intersectionality and Social Justice in Education), ANU * * Ms Sheetal Deo, Senior Project Manager, Diversity Council Australia

Symposium Panel Speakers are:

* Alicia Payne, Member of Parliament, the Australian House of Representatives * Karen Toohey, ACT Discrimination, Health Services and Disability Services Commissioner, ACT Human Rights Commission * ACT CALD Community Representatives with lived experience - Industry (Construction and Hospitality), Education, Students and Community

There will be networking opportunities too over a free lunch served before the Panel Discussion.
