Event description

Panel event on Racism in Healthcare in Australia.

The ANU Disabilities Student Association (DSA) is collaborating with the ANU Indigenous Department, International Students Department (ISD) and BIPOC Department to bring a panel discussion event, aimed at describing the realities of navigating the conflicting, confusing and isolating healthcare system.

Racism, both systemic and interpersonal, in the Australian health system is a critical driver of poor health, chronic illness, and premature death.

Panel Details:

  • Learn from people who have lived experience and knowledge of the Australian healthcare system.

  • Explore actionable steps aimed at the structures, systems and biases that affect people of colour within healthcare.

  • Gain a deeper understanding of historical and contemporary issues related to the Australian healthcare system.

The panel will conclude with an informal Q&A session, where attendees can ask questions and continue the conversation.

All are welcome to attend this event. This is a non-autonomous event, meaning you do not need to be disabled, an international student or a BIPOC student in order to attend this event.

We acknowledge the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people as the traditional owners of this land on which we work and live. We acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and connections to land, water and community. We pay respect to the Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty has never been ceded. This land always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
