Event description

When we hear the words relational practice, we might wonder- surely isn’t all human services work relational? In this guest lecture from UK relational practice thought leader, Mark Smith, we’ll explore the ways that our helping system has been gradually stripped of its relational capability and the ways in which we can get it back.

While he was Director of Public Sector Reform at Gateshead Council in Northumbria, he pioneered the design and testing of what has become known as the Liberated Method, which has produced excellent outcomes for highly disadvantaged cohorts. He played a key role in the scaling of this model and contributed to the public discourse around commissioning practices to enable this kind of work. He currently sits a thinktank with other UK thought leaders (along with Hilary Cottam) around the national shift towards a Wellbeing Economy.

This guest lecture has been made possible with support from Anglicare WA and Ruah Community Services.

The lecture will be held at Tattersall Hall, close to the Psychology department and also near Guild Village and the James Oval- https://link.mazemap.com/XvstFGjf)
