JOHN WATERS stars in RADIO LUXEMBOURG - SMASH HITS OF THE 60s!

Iconic star of stage and screen John Waters celebrates the songs of the British Pop Invasion that changed modern music forever. His newest show presents an era of music that remains in the cellular memory of fans over generations.

When commercial radio licences were not available in the 1960’s UK, pop and rock music was broadcast from Luxembourg, a clever move by the British record industry to circumnavigate the laws of the day. The Beatles then exploded onto the scene followed many, and the British Invasion truly began, including The Moody Blues, the Kinks, The Who, and scores of others.

With his musical collaborator Stewart D’Arrietta and a six-piece band, Waters recounts this loophole, anecdotes and moving memories of the era, taking the audience through the time continuum to songs that resound over decades. From the evocative Where Do You Go to My Lovely, to the memory-dredging Waterloo Sunset, the infectious grooves of Itchycoo Park and the anthemic My Generation, Waters and his band reprise and reinvent the classic hits in this homage to a seismic time in music.

With a six piece band and singers in brilliant voice, Waters recounts anecdotes and moving memories of the music of the era, taking the audience through the time continuum to songs that resound over decades, and remain as relevant as ever.

“The hardest part of Radio Luxembourg is choosing the songs NOT to do – the British Pop Invasion cannon is huge. We can’t wait for this tour. Stewart and I have been humbled by the incredible support of our Australian shows, especially the regional towns that we love playing. This show is a special ‘thank you’ to our amazing audiences and such a thrill for us.”

Radio Luxembourg is an overnight sensation six decades in the making. Waters and D’Arrietta return with their trademark interpretations and reveries of the music and the times. With story and song let the Sounds of the Sixties performed with vigour and passion transport you to a time of clandestine transistor radios, and music that changed the world.
