Rag rug making with Ella Carling
Event description
Reflecting on the ecological and meditative qualities of rag rug making, join Fijian creative Ella Carling in a morning making session. Participants are invited to bring old clothes or textiles to repurpose into bespoke floor rugs, a making practice particularly forgiving to the demands of motherhood and care responsibilities.
This is a free workshop and registrations are limited.
About Ella (she/her)
Ella Carling (she/her) is a Wellington-based emerging arts manager and performance artist. Her passion lies in facilitating connection through creativity and enabling this through mediums of dance, theatre, events and festivals. Her practice began in Fiji where she grew up training as a dancer in many different cultural and modern forms, embedding a deep appreciation for interculturalism and the value and understanding it brings through exchange. Since coming to Aotearoa in 2017, she achieved a Bachelor of Performing Arts Management, and found joy in working within the Pacific, Māori, and Indigenous arts space.
