🧵 RAG TIME QUILTING WORKSHOP
Discover the joy of quilting while giving new life to leftover fabrics, treasured textiles and forgotten scraps.
Join Tracy McLaughlin at The Tinkerage Dunmore for a fun and relaxed introduction to rag quilting. Using simple straight machine sewing or hand stitching, you'll create "sandwich squares" and begin building your own exposed-seam rag quilt.
Never threaded a needle before? Don't worry! This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced crafters alike. Rag quilting is forgiving, creative and a wonderful way to transform fabric scraps into something beautiful, practical and full of meaning.
Quilts often tell stories and hold memories. You might choose to bring fabrics from old clothing, special occasions or family keepsakes, or start a brand-new story using fabrics from The Tinkerage collection. Either way, you'll leave with new skills and the beginnings of a quilt that's uniquely yours.
What you'll learn:
🧵 The basics of rag quilting construction
✂️ How to create and assemble quilt sandwich squares
🪡 Simple machine sewing and hand-stitching techniques
♻️ Creative ways to reuse fabric scraps and textiles
What to bring:
• Fabric scraps or meaningful textiles you'd like to include (optional)
• Scissors or rotary cutter and cutting board
• Sewing machine (optional)
• Or simply use our needles and thread for hand stitching
