Event description

Join us for this very special 2 part event Thursday 15th June in Foster 2.00 PM - 5.00 PM

Part 1: Introducing the Rainbow Brick Road Report - LGBTQIA+ Inclusion in Gippsland

Following a successful roadshow across Gippsland in 2022, Gippsland Pride Initiative Inc in partnership with Federation University's Collaborative Evaluation and Research Group, have produced the 'Rainbow Brick Road Report' 2023.

Born from the voices and experiences of LGBTQIA+ Gippslanders in our 2022 survey and consultations, we have generated this report to share with Gippsland community, industry, health, council and education sectors, the unique lived experiences of folks in our region, and the opportunities to improve inclusion and access for LGBTQIA+ people to lead a full and enriching life across Gippsland.

In this special event, we welcome community, local government, education, health and business representatives to join us in the introduction to the report learnings and share with you simple steps and free, easy to use tools to support you to improve your own inclusion.

This no cost event is facilitated by Full Circle HR & Business Services and the Gippsland Pride Initiative Inc Committee, to support our community in improving our collective inclusion across the 6 shires and has been generously enabled with the support of Uniting Vic Tas.

- practical working through a basic action plan template for LGBTIQ+ inclusion.

Workshop Agenda

2. Roadmap Assessment: Comprehensive Roadmap Action Planning: Getting Started

3. Roadmap Action Planning: Comprehensive Roadmap Community Inclusion Planning Networking

The Rainbow Ready Roadmap resource builds on the rural and regional LGBTIQ+ Equality Roadshow and Regional Communities of LGBTIQ+ Practice that have been happening across Victoria since 2016. The Rainbow Ready Roadmap has a set of tools, including a checklist and assessment tool, so that people in their region, town, organisation or group can assess what needs to happen so they are even more welcoming and inclusive of LGBTIQ+ people. There’s also guides for everyday settings and everything you’ll need to create a local LGBTIQ+ action plan.

The workshop will be conducted by Daniel Witthaus from Rural Pride Australia, which has partnered the Commissioners for LGBTIQ+ Communities and State Government to deliver the LGBTIQ+ Equality Roadshow, Regional Communities of LGBTIQ+ Practice and Rainbow Ready Roadmap pilot series.
