Rainbows in the Gasoline features Karl S. Williams, a genre defying, multi-instrumentalist and award-winning artist with a voice and conviction so powerful it takes your breath away.

Drawing from folk, blues and gospel his songs are steeped in the swamp water of the northern NSW cane country where he was raised, lending the distinct flavour of this land to all his work.

Following the live band sound of 2020’s Lifeblood, Karl S. Williams now takes a turn into more intimate territory with an album of raw solo performances, perfect for our intimate listening room of Long Listen at Eudo Hall.

Rainbows in the Gasoline was recorded live-to-tape in a fibro cottage up on Mount Nebo in South-East Queensland, Australia, with light streaming in the windows and dogs sleeping on the floor. It was recorded by Jamie Trevaskis and this place is his home and studio, called Tape Land, shared with his partner Mia and a couple of requisite studio hounds. A house with a long and palpable musical history, it was the perfect place to nurture these delicate songs into existence.

A Karl S. Williams performance - either solo or with his band - is frequently referred to as a spiritual experience, leaving an audience slightly altered in the best way possible. For over a decade Karl has performed at festivals and venues throughout the country including Bluesfest, the Woodford Folk Festival, Festival of Small Halls, Dark MOFO, Panama, Queenscliff Music Festival and the Tamworth Country Music Festival, among many others.

Hello, I am Louise King and I am the Artistic Director of Long Listen, a new punchy festival program of short music experiences. Think classics with a twist.

On Friday 29 September to Monday 2 October 2023 I am launching Long Listen in my community at Eudlo Hall. Book tickets to experience a Long Listen teaser of short listening sessions featuring guest artists and conversations.

Long Listen broadens our arts ecology, by providing an inclusive audience experience. At its heart is the power of music.

Long Listen is an artist-driven, musician-led new annual boutique festival that presents the broad sweep of classical crossover artists in community places. Think a mashup of originals, world, folk and jazz artists, or singer-writers with string quartet.

Long Listen provides a space for audiences to explore, share and discover music and for our artists, a platform to experiment, make work, embedded in this community, for our community.

Help me realise Long Listen! I am working towards a fundraising goal of $50k to deliver the first festival program in October 2024. I need investors, donors and key partnerships. Your ticket directly supports our guest artists, and helps kickstart this new boutique festival.
