Raise the Hem
Description
Hemming is one of the most useful alterations you can learn. Adjust the length of your jeans, dresses, skirts and tops, to get way more wear out of the clothes you already own.
In two hours, you'll cover the essentials of hemming. Learning techniques suited to both woven and stretch fabrics, so you can approach any garment with confidence. You'll also get hands-on time with an overlocker, understanding how and when to use it as part of your finishing process.
In the final part of the session, you'll put those skills straight into practice by completing a hemming alteration on a garment from your own wardrobe. The perfect excuse to finally tackle that pile.
You'll leave with practical skills, a finished alteration, and a better understanding of how to extend the life of the clothes you love.
What to bring: A garment that needs hemming: trousers, t-shirt, a skirt, a dress, whatever's been waiting.
This workshop is best suited for those with some basic machine sewing skills.
