Join linguist Frauke Guenther and counsellor Nicole Loehr for a practical and inspiring seminar designed to support parents (and parents-to-be) in nurturing their children’s heritage language/s.
This engaging session will blend just the right amount of theory with real-life stories, practical strategies and actionable advice for families raising kids in Australia.

Presenters
Frauke Guenther is a qualified linguist, trained and working in the field of language acquisition. Holding the equivalent of a Masters in both German and English Linguistics and Literature as well as Pedagogy and Pedagogical Psychology, Frauke is a passionate and dedicated language professional and teacher, who has been leading the German Academy (Adelaide's specialist German language institute for adult students) since 2016. Frauke is the parent of a bilingual (adult) child.
Nicole Loehr is a Counsellor and School Liaison Officer at STARTTS (NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors). As part of her role, Nicole enjoys guiding teachers and parents on how a child’s cultural and linguistic heritage can be harnessed to strengthen attachments, nurture a sense of belonging and navigate difficulties in children’s lives. Nicole was raised bilingual in Sydney and is the parent of a trilingual child. She has a Master of Counselling and a PhD in Social Science.
