Accessible ranger-guided walk - Footprints of the Past Trail

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join Ranger Jae and Yvie (NPWS Access for All Coordinator) for an accessible guided walk in Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta along the 'Footprints of the Past' Trail.

This trail unlocks the history of the former Glenthorne Farm through the stories of six characters from Glenthorne’s past, beginning with Kaurna Miyurna (people). The trail takes you through the main visitor hub, past a 1960s glasshouse laboratory and 1850s vigneron’s barn, then towards a lookout with panorama views over the park and distant hills.

The rangers will also give a demonstration on the new 'SA National Parks Tours' app that helps you get the most out of selected trails within South Australian national parks that provides you with audio narratives and the ability to bring the featured characters to life through augmented reality!

Please download the app onto your smartphone prior to tour:

Accessibility

The trail surface is hard packed gravel, there is a reasonable gradient just past the glasshouse to go down so assistance may be required. This is a grade 2 trail so there are sections in which assistance may be required. For manual wheelchair users it is recommended to do the trail with a freewheel attached (if you have one) as this will make the trail easier to navigate.
