Event description

CIN invites you to attend the six-month demonstration of the groundbreaking Rapidly Deployable Wide-Area WiFi (WAWiFi) System. The project team is the second of CIN's grant recipients to showcase their progress at the six-month mark. The team behind the Cost-Effective Rapidly Deployable High Data-Rate Wide-Area Wi-Fi (WAWiFi) System for Remote Public Broadband Services is led by Professor Yonghui Li from the University of Sydney, in partnership with UTS, Pivotel Satellites, NBN Co. and Real Access.

Join us to witness a game-changing solution designed to provide cost-effective, high-speed connectivity for remote public broadband Internet access over large geographic areas.

Through the use of patented wireless networking protocols and innovative multibeam high-gain antennas, the WAWiFi System will provide high-speed Wi-Fi service over a large geographical area to cater to a diverse range of applications. Leveraging the reliable internet connectivity provided by NBN's and Pivotel's satellite backhaul links, this cutting-edge system ensures seamless access to online resources even in the most remote locations.

During the event, you will have the opportunity to experience live demonstrations showcasing the range and capability of the WAWiFi System in practical outdoor scenarios. The project team will provide in-depth technical insights, explaining the underlying technologies and wireless networking protocols that enable the system to be deployed in emergency scenarios where access to high speed and high data-rate broadband is critical. The team will also provide insight into the commercialisation of this technology for large-scale deployments.

    The project team consists of:

    • The University of Sydney -- Professor Yonghui Li, Professor Branka Vucetic, Dr Changyang She, Litianyi Zhang, Dawei Tan, Summera Nosheen
    • The University of Technology, Sydney -- Dr Peiyuan Qin, Professor Andrew Zhang
    • Pivotel Satellites -- Darren Cooley, Tricia Wilson
    • NBN Co. -- Samuel Stephens
    • Real Access -- John Worthington

The demonstration will be held on-site at Fire & Rescue NSW's Academy in Orchard Hills. Secure your spot by registering now. Please note that seating is limited, so we encourage you to reserve your place as soon as possible.
