Rare Book Week: Launch and Exhibition of Novae Hollandiae Plantarum Specimen Volume 1 and 2 - Jacques-Julien Houtou de La Billardière

Join us for a talk to introduce our new exhibition that coincides with Melbourne Rare Book Week (24 July – 2 August). 

Ballarat Libraries is proud to exhibit two incredibly rare and valuable volumes from the Ballarat Libraries’ Rare Book Collection. The conservation treatment and exhibition of these significant volumes has been made possible by a Public Records Office of Victoria Local History Grant. 

Published in 1804 and 1806, the volumes were donated to the Ballarat East Free Library in the early 1860s. They are significant scientific publications that provide insight into Australian flora in the Ballarat region before the goldrush.
