Event description

World-renowned violinist Ray Chen makes his long-awaited return to Australia with some of the most demanding, impressive, and emotionally riveting works for violin.

About Ray Chen

Born in Taiwan and raised in Australia, Ray was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music at age 15, where he studied with Aaron Rosand and was supported by Young Concert Artists. Ray is the brightest star in the new generation of violinists. His performances ring with the freedom of a master musician unrestrained by technical limitations.

About the concert

On his return to Australia, Ray is joined by the acclaimed pianist Timothy Young. A versatile and sensitive musician, Timothy’s musicianship is the perfect accompaniment to Ray’s heartfelt artistry and jaw-dropping violin pyrotechnics.

‘The tone he gets is almost human in its slight graininess and glow.’
