Reconciliation Week: Lunch and film screening

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Everyone is welcome to join us for lunch and a film screening to acknowledge National Reconciliation Week.

After a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, you’ll be invited to plant a hand as part of ANTaR's Sea of Hands display. For 25 years the Sea of Hands has been a symbol of solidarity and aims to spread awareness for reconciliation and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice, rights and respect. There will also be a cultural dance performance from the Brolga Dance Academy.

Local Elder and cooking guru Aunty Beryl Van-Oploo is catering a delicious lunch, followed by a screening of the documentary Servant or Slave. This important film tells the stories of 5 Aboriginal women removed from their families during the Stolen Generation.

Bookings are essential to join this free event.

The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme ‘Be Brave. Make Change.’ is a challenge to all Australians to be brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can make change for the benefit of all Australians.

We can be brave, we can make change but we can't do it alone. Start a conversation today. Let's make a change together.
