Re-Imagining Greensborough - Walking Tour Saturday 30 May 2026

Join us for an exciting event to walk and talk all things Greensborough Activity Centre. What's working? What's not working? How would Greensborough Activity Centre ideally look and feel in 20 years?

During this event, you will be guided on a walk around the Greensborough Activity Centre by Council officers who are working on a new plan for Greensborough.

Saturday, May 2026, 11am-12pm

Where

There will be a pop up stall for the project outside Watermarc on Greensborough Walk. Walking tour participants should meet at the pop up stall.

What to bring

Please dress in appropriate clothing/footwear/hat/umbrella for walking and the weather on the day. Bring some sunscreen and drinking water.

Children are very welcome to attend but must be under parent or guardian supervision at all times

Accessibility

Greensborough has some hilly topography. The walking tour will take approximately 1 hour and while we will be travelling on footpaths, some areas may be uneven or steep.

Re-imagining the future of Greensborough Activity Centre

We are reviewing the Greensborough Structure Plan to help guide how the area grows and changes into the future. The plan will help inform future land use, growth, development, and how investment in planned in the Greensborough Activity Centre. The goal is to make sure it remains lively, welcoming and a resilient place for the community, in line with Council's vision for "Our well-built city".

The current Structure Plan for Greensborough Activity Centre (known as the Greenbook) was created in 2006. Since then a lot has changed, from changes the planning rules at State level, to major transport projects like the level crossing removals and North East Link works, so it's an important time to review our strategy.

Greensborough Activity Centre will continue to be an important for shopping and jobs, and it has long been identified as a good location for more housing. We want to hear your views about how it should develop over time.

The Greensborough Structure Plan review project will occur over 2 years:

• Stage 1 (current) will focus on asking the community what they value about Greensborough Activity Centre and how they think it could be improved. We have prepared a Re-Imagining Greensborough Discussion Paper to support discussions.

• Stage 2 will use the feedback from Stage 1 to create a draft Greensborough Structure Plan, which will then be shared with the community for further input.

If you would like to get involved in the project in a different way, there are other community consultation activities available including:

• Online survey and mapping tool for written feedback.

• Information sessions to learn about the project.

• Walking tours for on-the-ground conversations about specific, nuanced issues.

• Workshops for deeper discussion about complex topics.

• Place-based pop-ups for promotion of the project and general discussion.

This walking tour takes place during the Kulin season of Waring, or Wombat season. The most common wombat species in Victoria is the Bare-nosed Wombat, if you’re lucky you might spot one enjoying the winter sun over the next couple months. All three extant species of wombat are endemic to Australia, along with 80% of the mammal species that occur on the continent. Additionally, Bulen-bulen (Superb Lyrebird) males perform their courtship displays during this season.
