Description
Enjoy a relaxed afternoon of reading, conversation and community at our fourth reading party at LOLA'S Darby Street. Read the Room was launched at this year's festival and due to popular demand we will be holding events throughout the year.
The project brings book-lovers together for quiet reading and guided conversation. Phones are off-limits.
Bring your current book, discover new favourites, and enjoy the atmosphere among fellow readers.

Please note that the event will be held on the first floor and there are stairs. No lift is available.
How to get there
Catch the Newcastle Light Rail to Civic Station. From there, you can walk 15 minutes up Laman Street to Darby Street, or simply jump on Bus 11 or Bus 14 to the Darby St at Bull St stop.
Parking
Darby Street has limited on Street parking, Alternative options are: Darby Street Car Park (Council Street): Located directly off Darby Street, this is the most convenient spot. It offers limited free after 1pm on Saturdays. Howe Street Car Park: Located just a short walk off Howe Street, this provides much higher capacity and is ideal if you plan to spend a few hours exploring the area.
The Venue
LOLAS, located at 171 Darby Street in Cooks Hill, is a charming, family-run venue housed in an historic 1854 building. A more intimate "speakeasy" vibe pefect for our Read the Room gathering.
