Read the World Book Club
Event description
‘Read the World’ Book Club is a monthly reading group where we focus on books by authors from around the world. It’s an opportunity to read books by those we might not otherwise discover and celebrate the diversity of literature and what it means to be human.
We meet monthly on the last Sunday of each month to discuss the selected book, make friends, and share a love of reading.
A book list for our upcoming reads will be made available to new members as they join.
Our first pick for 2025 is Greek Lessons by Han Kang.
Here's a brief synopsis of the book:
Greek Lessons tells the story of two ordinary people brought
together at a moment of private anguish—the fading light of a man losing
his vision meeting the silence of a woman who has lost her language.
Yet these are the very things that draw them to each other. Slowly the
two discover a profound sense of unity—their voices intersecting with
startling beauty, as they move from darkness to light, from silence to
breath and expression.
