READY, SET, SEW!
A three week introduction to using a sewing machine At Do-Op Shop, Annerley.
Who is it for?
Absolute beginners! Have you bought a sewing machine and don’t know where to start? Don’t feel confident using your machine? Never sewn before?
This class is for you!
What will I learn?
Week 1 - 2 hours
· Introduction to the machine-how does it work? What can it do? What’s that dial?
· How to thread the machine
· How to wind a bobbin
· Let’s get sewing
Week 2 - 2 hours
· Recap threading and winding bobbin
· Basic troubleshooting-what if something goes wrong?
· Let’s talk sewing and fabrics-tour of shop to look at how some common garments are sewn (seams, hems, what machine made that?)
· Time to practice some sewing skills
Week 3 – 2 hours
· Recap threading and winding bobbin
· How can I use my new sewing skills? Let’s talk about quality.
· Small project-make and take a pincushion.
