Kansas City Section of the Institute of Food Technologists Fall 2024 Seminar: Recent Changes in Poultry Food Safety Regulations. Join us for a seminar with scientific experts from Cargill to learn and discuss the recent changes in food safety regulation in the poultry industry. There will be a happy hour networking event following the seminar at Austin's Bar and Grill across the street from K-State Olathe Campus. One drink is included with each registration. Virtual viewing option is available. 

Speaker Information:

Dr. Subash Shrestha is a food microbiologist with 16 years of experience in the food industry. He has been with Cargill for the last 9 years where he has worked in meat and poultry processing. He is a food safety science leader and process authority for ready-to-eat protein products such as meat, poultry, fermented meats, eggs, alternative proteins, and pet foods.

Debbie Nece is currently the Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Director for the Cargill Protein Group. She has been responsible for 30 years in leading the regulatory packaging compliance team for Cargill’s USA and Canadian Animal Protein operations. Her team manages, supports and approves all claims, nutrition and regulatory compliance used on Cargill, as well as customer, packaging and POS. Her team also has the responsibility for updating and maintaining the product and customer specifications for those same facilities. Debbie works closely with USDA, FDA and CFIA officials on regulation changes and updates. Debbie started with Cargill as a research and development scientist. She went on to be a plant food safety and quality manager for a fresh turkey and cooked meat facility. Debbie is a graduate of Iowa State University with degrees in Animal Science and Food Science.
