RECLAIM THE VOID WORKSHOP SERIES: WEAVE A RAG RUG FOR COUNTRY (April 13)
Event description
Join us to be led through the background and processes to weave a rag rug over one full day workshop on April 13, 9am-4pm
The Reclaim The Void project was born from pain and grief of Indigenous elders in the Leonora community arising from the gaping mining holes left all over their country. The idea was conceived by Creative Director Vivienne Robertson to symbolically "seal" one of the mining voids with an artwork expressing the story of country. The art chosen will consist of thousands of hand-made circular rag rugs woven from discarded fabric. People everywhere are donating materials, their time and their completed rag rugs. It takes roughly 10 hours to complete one rug hence attending the full day sessions is required to complete your rug. Enviro House (EH) is proud to participate in and support this project, more details of which can be found at www.reclaimthevoid.com.au
Come and join this bold cross-country cultural project, make and contribute your rag rug by working over the session in a small group on the deck at EH.Â
