    Devonport City Council is thrilled to announce Reclaiming Our Power; Surviving, Thriving, and Inspiring Others; our 2024 International Women’s Day Keynote Event.

    Featuring Grace Tame, 2021 Australian of the Year and advocate for change, this event goes beyond the ordinary; we invite you to be an integral part of this transformative experience.

    Hosted by the amazing Penny Terry, prepare to be moved, inspired, and empowered by Grace Tame's compelling insights and her unwavering commitment to making a positive difference, as she discusses the profound impact of social media on body image and self-esteem, online bullying, harassment, grooming, and sexual assault.

    Check In: Ground Level, via Market Square entrance to the paranaple Convention Centre. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Ushes will meet you in the foyer on Ground Level ready to check tickets and direct you up upstairs. Bring your tickets either via your mobile device or printed out. Ushers will scan the QR code in the top corner of each ticket to know you are here. NO TICKET - NO ENTRY.

    Minors/ Under 18 are welcome, with adult supervision. Due to the content of what will be shared during both Graces address and the Panel, ensure that if a Minor is in your presence that they feel safe, comfortable and that this event is suitable for them. Council, its partners and event team take no responsibility for minors who become distressed as a result of the event. Minors not accompanied by an adult will not be admitted.

    Accessibility: 
    The paranaple Convention Centre is Wheelchair/mobility aid accessible. Service animals are also welcome. Please let us know in advance so our Ushers can seat you in a safe and comfortable area. If you are a companion card holder attending the event with your companion, please send us an email to eventbookings@devonport.tas.gov.au  to ensure we add a seat for you. Don't forget to bring your companion card to the event. An induction (hearing) loop is also available for this event. Please let an Usher know if you require a headset when you arrive. 

    Food and Beverages limited snacks and beverages are available for purchase from the Level 3 foyer, prior to the event and during intermission. 

      Local Services: A number of our wonderful local services and community organisations are available to support you on the night. You can meet them in the foyer of the event, and chat during intermission.  

      Counselling Support:
      Discreetly, Laurel House will have Councillors available to meet in a private space downstairs. During the event we will share a mobile number on the big screen and encourage you to make contact anonymously to meet with someone. 

      Leaving the Event:  You can leave the venue at any time. There will be private chill out areas, and as mentioned, Counsellors available should you need them.

        Driving and need to park your car? Parking is available in the multi-level car park next door; entry is via Best Street or Fenton Way:

        • First 30 minutes free – then $1.00 per 30 minutes, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.00pm
        • $2.00 flat fee, Saturday and Sunday and after 6pm Monday to Friday
        • $5.00 all day parking available on the top level Monday to Friday
        • Undercover parking
        • Please note that the height clearance is 2.3 meters.

        Parking in surrounding streets also available (note parking metre fees may apply).
