Event description
Don't know how to sew? Do you have pants that need taking in or up? (or taking out - no judgement here!) Do you have a button that needs to be stitched back on? Have you made a small hole in your favorite shirt?
Our ReCommunity Stitched Together Volunteers will be able to assist you with basic repairs and alterations such as, shorten new jeans or pants, replace a button, take up a dress hem or repairing clothes with small damage. Want to volunteer to help make repairs? You can register too.
Have a cuppa and a biscuit while you wait and reconnect with the wonderful facilities and resources in our community.
Registration is free, you can register as a sewist or as a general customer requiring a repair! Everyone welcome! The more the merrier!
If you want to learn how to repair clothes yourself and learn some basic sewing skills while you are at it, join us for one of our basic sewing skills workshops. Check out www.recommunity.org.au for upcoming workshops. You will learn, have fun and save money by learning how to make basic repairs to clothing yourself!
Then after the workshop, why not volunteer at our fortnightly Repair Cafe at MakerSpace and in other local communities and keep the cobwebs away from your machine and help you to stay on top of your newfound skills! We have exciting plans to take our repair cafe on the road from time to time throughout the region and even into aged care facilities. Imagine jumping on a bus and heading out to Beechwood for the afternoon or down to Kendall to share your skills with others in the community, spark conversations and create friendships!

Stitched Together Repair Cafe operates fortnightly on Saturdays
1:00pm - 3.00pm MakerSpace Port Macquarie
Bring items for repair (plus any specific supplies you might need for the repair) In most cases we have the resources needed at Makerspace.
