Contemporary Use of Australian Native Plants as Foods - Join us for a unique exploration of Australian native plants in cooking! Discover the contemporary use of these vibrant, native ingredients in delicious finger foods and sip on aromatic native herb teas. It’s a sensory journey celebrating Australia’s rich culinary heritage—don’t miss out on this flavorful experience!

Cultural Connections Art Workshop - Join us for a unique art workshop with Ngarrpadla, where she’ll share her knowledge of symbols and their deep meanings, along with Dreaming stories from her culture. All materials are provided, and you will be supported to create your own story on a beautiful Eucalyptus leaf canvas using symbol sheets. Enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where you can yarn, connect, and let your creativity flow as Ngarrpadla guides you through the process. Don't miss this chance to learn, create, and share stories in a truly special way!

About Your Presenters
Ngarrpadla Daphney Paringangki Rickett (Aunty Daphney River Woman Rickett)
Born in the Riverland, South Australia, Ngarrpadla Daphney Paringangki Rickett (Aunty Daphney River Woman Rickett) is a Kaurna, Ngarrindgeri, Latji Latji, Nharangga woman. She has spent most of her life in the southern area of Adelaide and is the sixth born of thirteen children. Daphney is a mother of two, grandmother to seven grandchildren and great grandmother to five delightful children. Ngarrpadla Daphney has dedicated most of her life to her Aboriginal community. She is committed to empowering her people and passing on knowledge and skills in the hope of a brighter future in education and employment, and better way of life for Australia’s First Nation’s people. She is also dedicated to acts of reconciliation, believing that working together with her Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal sisters and brothers assists in developing meaningful relationships. Daphney’s goal is to have a positive outcome, mutual respect and a deeper understanding of Culture and Country. Ngarrpadla Daphney Paringangki Rickett is a respected Elder, a well-known artist and is famous for her knowledge of Traditional use of plants found in Australia.
Dolores Amos - Ranger D
Dolores Amos, also known as Ranger D, is a white woman of German descent. She is a conservation land manager with 35years experience working and living amongst our natural world.
Ranger D has a passion for the environment and has the ethos of embracing education in conservation. She believes that environmental education is fundamental to the future of our world and has spent the last 30 years working in R-12 schools and tertiary education centres as an environmental educator, Scientist in Residence and a Thinker in Residence. She has spent many years as a natural resource manager and a private sanctuary manager. Dolores has also designed and developed a number of revegetation sites using indigenous flora and fauna and many bush food gardens using plant species found throughout Australia.
Ranger D uses her knowledge of native plants and animals as a conduit to learn about Australia’s shared histories in many areas of the curriculum and in support of wider community learning. Her connection with Country and her knowledge of the ecology of the Fleurieu Peninsula led her to investigate the use of natural resources as food, medicine, art and implements. Ranger D has spent the last 25 years learning from and working alongside members of the Kaurna community and other First Nations peoples throughout Australia.
