In this Spotlight Session, Clinical Psychologist Dr Amy Talbot will unpack the realities of living with OCD, separating myths from evidence-based facts. She will explore how OCD can show up in faith communities, the ways church environments and practices can sometimes hinder recovery, and practical steps churches can take to create safe, informed spaces for those affected.

Speaker: Dr Amy Talbot

Dr Amy Talbot is a multi-award-winning Clinical Psychologist and the Director and Founder of The Talbot Centre, a multidisciplinary healthcare service in Northwest Sydney. She has extensive expertise in the assessment and treatment of obsessive–compulsive and related disorders across the lifespan. Amy is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding OCD and empowering families, communities, and professionals to better understand and respond to the challenges it presents. She is a sought-after presenter, supervisor, and educator, providing training to clinicians across Australia on evidence-based OCD treatment and the integration of lived experience perspectives. Her work emphasises person-centred, formulation-driven care, with a particular interest in supporting individuals navigating OCD within faith and community contexts.
