Overview: This lecture explores the unique techniques of recording for different industries. From the high-energy performances of animation, to the concise clarity of commercials, to the sustained storytelling of audiobooks, guests will learn how to adapt performance style, microphone technique, and recording workflow to each medium. The session will also cover studio practices, editing essentials, remote recording, home studio set up, and how to collaborate effectively with directors, producers, and engineers to deliver professional-quality recordings.

Come meet celebrity voice actor, Megan Fahlenbock, known for voicing “Jen Masterson” from “6Teen” and “Gwen” from “Total Drama Island” along Jeff Wright who has engineered some of the most iconic shows in history.

Presenter: Jeff is a distinguished Recording Engineer/Producer, Director, Musician, and Educator with an impressive three-decade-long career in the entertainment industry.  He has channeled his expertise towards recording and directing voices and music for animated television shows, movies, and eBooks, earning widespread acclaim and numerous industry awards including Gemini, Anix, and Emmy honors. His contributions have been integral to the success of beloved animated productions, such as Magic School Bus, Family Guy, Cat in the Hat, and hundreds more, enriching storytelling through meticulous audio craftsmanship.

Jeff's skills have been sought after for web and TV series, where he has adeptly recorded and helped actors deliver compelling performances. His work extends to feature films, including notable projects such as "The Nut Job", Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla” and "Sneakerella," where his audio recording prowess has elevated the cinematic experience.

With a client portfolio encompassing industry giants like Pixar, Amazon, Netflix, Corus, Warner, Sony, Universal, Fox, and Disney, Jeff's reputation as a trusted collaborator and sonic visionary is firmly established. Presenter: Megan has been a performer on and off the stage for as long as she can remember. She started out as the class clown in school, became a model and actor when she was 13 and then a professional show skier on water and live action stunt performer through her teens and early 20s. While backpacking in Bollywood and trying to figure out what to do with her degree in Anthropology, she realized she wouldn’t be able to watch movies without wishing she were in them. So Megan returned to Toronto in 1996 to begin her acting career as an adult. Since then Megan has been in numerous tv shows and films, such as Suits, Call Me Fitz, Resident Evil, The Way Home and Ginny and Georgia. Megan is also an accomplished voice over performer, having recorded over a thousand commercials and been in numerous animated series. She is known best for her portrayal of the character Gwen on Total Drama Island and Jen from “6Teen”.  

When Megan isn’t performing, she is coaching actors and athletes on the mental game of performance.
