Recording Stories - In Your Words | PORT MACQUARIE

This event has passed Register

Event description

Are you a local creative artist or maker in the Port Macqaurie region?

We are excited to chat to you about your creative journey! What led you to the beautiful Mid North Coast and Hinterland. How did the pandemic and natural disasters such as floods and bushfires impact your practice and how did your practice shift in response?

We know the creative arts industry is vital in fostering resilience, healing and social cohesion during times of crisis. We look forward to recording stories of creative arts being a catalyst for change or solace in our community.

These wonderful stories can be shared with friends and family and to the wider community through out podcast Sharing Stories: In your own words. We encourage participants to share their stories and to generate conversations and to connect communities.

Alana 'Llama' Cabrera is the host of this series of conversations with creative artists and makers.

Alana is a self-taught embroidery artist. Originally from the U.S., she had been calling Australia home for the past 5 years. Alana enjoys exploring different textile techniques and experimenting with mixing textures to create pieces that people are tempted to touch. She is largely inspired by the natural world. Lately, her artwork had been centred around the sea and the native landscape and flora.

This ReCommunity event is hosted at the Makerspace Recording Studio. It is funded by the NSW Government.
