Event description

Join us for a presentation of our plastic recycling project “Increasing awareness of plastics recycling: Engaging New Zealand communities in transforming Household Plastic Waste using Additive Manufacturing Technologies” at the community centre!

Our project is part of a Master’s degree research at AUT University. This project objective is to address the significant environmental implications associated with single-use plastics, with a particular emphasis on those that are relegated to landfills. This project foremost aim is to raise awareness among the public and actively engage communities across New Zealand in this pressing issue.

The study will explore the potential of using 3D printing technology to turn plastic number two, High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), plastic household waste into 3D printing filaments and produce plastic objects for reuse in a domestic or community setting. This is a crucial step towards promoting a sustainable future, and we would like to invite you to attend our project presentation to learn more about our work.

During the presentation, we will discuss our research in detail and explain how we are using additive manufacturing to transform plastic waste into valuable products. We will also provide information about the two short surveys that will be conducted and a workshop that will be held in between these surveys. At the upcoming workshop on the 23rd of September you will participate in hands-on activities and learn more about plastic recycling practices.

We believe that by attending our project presentation and workshop, you will gain valuable knowledge and insights into the importance of plastic recycling and how it can contribute to a cleaner environment.

Together, we can make a difference and work towards a sustainable future.
