Recycling facility tour
Event description
Join this behind-the-scenes tour for Adelaide Hills Council residents
Our yellow recycling bins are emptied by East Waste and the materials are taken to CAWRA's material recovery facility. To discover what happens next, join this engaging and informative tour.
Our hosts will explain CAWRA's role and processes and then you will see people and machinery in action as we walk along the raised platform overlooking the facility. We will then retreat to the quiet of the facility's education space for a small morning tea, during which you can ask CAWRA and AHC staff your recycling-related questions.
Meet some other Hills residents and Council staff and gain knowledge about:
- what does and does not belong in our yellow recycling bins and the consequences of contamination
- how the different material types are separated and what they become next
- behaviour changes and system improvements needed to further increase our recycling rates.
This event is suitable for people aged 8 years and over (under-18s must be accompanied by an adult). Participants need to make their own way to the venue and must wear flat, closed toe shoes. Because of the raised platform, we recommend wearing trousers.
